Is Alprostadil The Same As Caverject?
Caverject (alprostadil) is a prostaglandin that has many different pharmacological actions, including vasodilation and inhibition of platelet aggregation. Alprostadil (brand names Caverject(r), Edex(r), Prostin VR(r)) belongs to a group of medicines called vasodilators. One product, called Alprostadil For Injection (brand names Caverject (r) and Edex (r)), is available as a powder in a vial. Ingredients The powdered Caverject Impulse contains either 10 or 20 micrograms of the active ingredient, alprostadil. Caverject Vials contains a powder and solution that must be mixed together before using the vials and injecting them into the base of your penis. Caverject(r) needs to be mixed with a solution called Bacteriostatic Water for Injection USP. After mixing the caverject injection, store it at room temperature and use within 24 hours. Alternate your injecting sites every time you use Caverject Impulse; pick one side of your penis for that injecting, use the other side the next time, etc. Change the exact location and side of the penis where you inject the CAVERJECT every time you use CAVERJECT. Your health care provider should show you how to prepare for and inject CAVERJECT correctly before the first time you administer it. Do not change the dosage of CAVERJECT without talking with your healthcare provider first. Call your healthcare provider if you have questions about how to administer CAVERJECT correctly. Depending on your circumstances, Caverject might be an alternative that can be safer to use. Caverject cannot be used for some conditions affecting the blood, or if you have abnormalities in the penis. If you use more of the Caverject Impulse than your healthcare provider has prescribed, your erections can continue for longer than is medically safe, and medical intervention may be necessary. What Caverject Impulse is used for Caverject Impulse can be prescribed by your doctor to treat erectile dysfunction (inability to keep an erection for sexual intercourse). Alprostadil helps to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) by increasing blood flow to your penis, which causes an erection. Alprostadil is a drug taken by men to treat ED (erectile dysfunction). Alprostadil for sale is available in injection therapy, where you give an injection of alprostadil to the base of the penis. Injections for ED contain a medication called alprostadil, which is the same chemical your penis produces when you become erect naturally. Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1), also known as alprostadil, is a naturally occurring prostaglandin used as medication. Thirty patients received an initial injection of the vasoactive combination and a second injection of a dose of the intracorporeally administered prescription dose of Alprostadil (Caverject). Men were randomized into one of five groups, and received a single dose of placebo, 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, or 20 mg of Caverject. Seventy-three per cent of injections of 102 men using Caverject during the home phase led to satisfactory sexual performance. In the clinical studies (Study 1 and Study 3), more than 80% of patients experienced a sufficiently good erection to perform sexual intercourse following the intravenous injections of Caverject.
